Maximus' favorite things lately could be summed up in three words...

ROCK, PAPER, SCISSORS

Okay, forget the scissors part...

Since a tiny baby, he has always LOVED movement. Music is a BIG part of our lives. We usually have something playing in the background. I love dancing with him and Rob (the drummer) likes to jam out with him. It's so cute to see Maximus' legs and arms moving. When he's sitting on the floor he'll rock back and forth or bounce up and down, oftentimes in beat with the music. He'll sing along, adding his own spin of lyrics such as: la-la-la-la or bop-bop-bop-bop, duh-duh-duh-duh and an occasional gleeful "SCREAM." In church he really gets going as well.

When one of us is rocking him in the chair, he'll sit on our lap and rock along. And when he's in his swing, he's also helping that along by moving his body side to side or back and forth. He gets the swing going so fast that we have to turn it way down.

When it comes to paper, this guy is OBSESSED with it. It can be any form of paper - boxes, mail, books, magazines...the list goes on. I've started to give in more and let him have at it, with magazines. He loves ripping them, crumpling them up and waving them in the air. A really funny thing that he’s been doing is taking a scrap of paper and crawling over to our paper shredder. I realized the other day what he was doing. He's seen us use the shredder, so he is trying to put paper in there himself. It’s really cute to watch this, but we’ve had to turn the shredder off to protect those little fingers of his. It really makes you think - these little ones are watching and trying to mimic every move we make!

A Drive in the Snow

"Hey Maximus, what's that white stuff on the ground?"

"It's called SNOW, Kooky. Would you like to go outside and check it out?"

"Wait a minute though, Kooky. There's one problem. You can't go out in the cold without a hat."

"Not to mention your feet! You'll freeze to death without any shoes."

"Oh, bummer Maximus. I really wanted to go out in the snow. "

"Don't worry, Kooky. I've got you covered."

"Maximus...you are making me very nervous! You're not going to sneak in one of your wrestling moves, are you?"

"I promise you, Kooky...No wrestling moves today. You have nothing to fear."

"Just RELAX! You're SO tense!"

"Thanks, Maximus. I kind of like this hat."

"I'm ready! Let's go outside!"

"Maximus...What are you doing. I'm READY. Let's GO!"

"Hang on a second. I'm looking for the car keys, Kooky."

"Oh NO!!! Maximus, you're not driving, are you? I'm having flashbacks from out last car ride."

It's hard to believe our baby is going to be a year old in a few weeks. Where has time gone?

One of Maximus' favorite places in the house is the kitchen. We have a nice open space where he likes to play. When we're in there, he likes to come up to us and grabs hold of our legs, typically bringing himself to a standing position. He kind of tugs and pulls and hangs out there for a while. Of course it makes it a little difficult to get things done when he's doing this, but it's the sweetest thing, feeling that little guy beneath us.

The appliances are a major attraction to him. His favorite, is the dishwasher. As soon as he hears us putting dishes in there or sees us opening the door to it, he comes crawling or scooting across the floor with GREAT enthusiasm. Recently he has been grabbing the knob and actually turning it on. Now, if we could only get him to load the dishes and add the soap, we'd be in business. haha...

Rob has been showing Maximus how to climb the stairs and he's really got the hang of it now. It's fun to watch, because his short little legs have to do quite a bit of stretching to pull himself up each step; however, he has a good deal of strength & determination.

Another milestone was seeing him stand for about 10 seconds on his own today, without hanging onto something for support. Yay!

Such fun times. He definitely keeps us on our toes...

Be STILL

How perfectly it is speaking to me right now - so peaceful! It put Maximus to sleep in his swing. And he has the sweetest look on his face right now.

One of my favorite things to do with Maximus is to make funny faces. The dumber and goofier I look, the more he laughs. And when I'm out shopping with him and do this, it REALLY gets him on a giggle kick!

Rob has been repeating words, sounds, making clicking noises, and sticking out his tongue to Maximus since I can remember. M really studies what his Papa is doing and later down the road he starts mimicking those things. It's fascinating to me to see this learning process.

Maximus is very observant and wants to know what's going on around him. He has to take in EVERYTHING. When he walks into a room, he is interested in the details. There could be a tiny speck of lint on the floor and he'll notice it.

When I rock Maximus before bedtime, he likes to lie on top of a pillow, on his tummy, on my lap. Other times he'll sit forward and I'll hold him, by supporting him under his arms. He enjoys rocking this way. However, If I pull him close to me, he'll resist. But when he's really tired, he'll lean back on me. And, man, OH man...when that little face of his touches mine, I feel perfectly content!!!

I could go on and on about so many things that Maximus does, his likes and dislikes, etc., etc., but I'll stop for now. haha...If it weren't for me tracking these things on this blog, I would miss out on a lot of stuff that he's doing. So, thanks for allowing me to share these tidbits with you. Now, I just need to transfer more of this info to his baby book. I'm behind...

For the past few weeks Maximus has been sleeping MUCH better at night. I only have to get up once or twice a night.

He enjoys trying different foods, especially things that Rob and I eat. Maximus gets a lot of satisfaction from feeding himself. Okay, he's not feeding himself with a spoon yet, but just bits and pieces off his high chair tray. He really likes pasta, chicken, meatballs, gold fish, greek yogurt and even nibbles of pizza. He still eats oatmeal, fruit, veggies, cheese, cereal and avacodoes. The other thing he really digs, is water! He drinks that from his sippy cup throughout the day.

At Christmas time, Grandma LaLa fed him a cracker with cream cheese & olive tapenade. And he went nuts over it! He was in heaven! haha...I was dying to see if he'd like lemons. I know that sounds crazy, but I love lemons, and especially craved them when I was pregnant with him. The other day I gave him some lemon and he LOVED it too! Just to be sure I tried it again another day and I got the same reaction. Don't worry, it's not something I will be feeding him on a regular basis. I know the acid can be bad on the enamel of one's teeth. (smile)

When we feed him, oftentimes he have a spoon, bowl or his sippy cup that he holds. It's a good distraction. And sometimes he plays the game of dropping those things onto the floor. He is funny to watch, because he anticipates the crash on the floor, blinking his eyes just before it even hits. I like to get his reaction by catching the object before it drops to the ground. There is no crash, so no noise...but he STILL blinks. And then usually smiles. HA!

What a Year

Can you believe that 2011 is coming to a close? And Oh, what a year it's been! The most memorable moment by far has been the birth of our baby in February. Life is more full and enjoyable because of him.

This blog has been a fun outlet for me - more than I ever expected. And a BIG part of it is because of readers like YOU. Thanks so much for sharing in our joy, looking at the endless numbers of photos that I post, and reading the silly stories of Maximus & Kooky.

Wishing all of you a year of peace, love, health & happiness in 2012.

So we're not giving up. How could we! Even though on the outside it often looks like things are falling apart on us, on the inside, where God is making new life, not a day goes by without his unfolding grace. These hard times are small potatoes compared to the coming good times, the lavish celebration prepared for us. There's far more here than meets the eye. The things we see now are here today, gone tomorrow. But the things we can't see now will last forever.

Whew...Bambino made it through his first Christmas. He wasn't quite sure what to do with the wrapping paper when he was given a gift at Rob's parents' house. So, Grandpa started helping and tearing the paper and then Maximus began crying. I guess he didn't want to ruin the nice packaging.

Yesterday we went to my parents' house and celebrated with my family's side. He got to see his little cousin Isaiah - they are so cute together.

Let's just say that this kid is set on toys for a long time. And like everyone warned me...he was usually more interested in the box, paper, tags and containers that everything came in. All in all it was a fun time!

How was your weekend? Did you have a nice Christmas?

I was confused last week thinking that it was the last week of the month...but THIS is the last week. I hope 2011 wraps up to be a good one for you!

Here he is in his swing - holding the brush. I told you he's attached to this. And no, that's not a bow in his hair. Ha! It's actually part of the mobile overhead.

Papa is brushing M's hair and it appears that Maximus is about ready to pass out.

3 days to go! Are you ready for Christmas?
I'm going to go buy some more combs and brushes tomorrow for Maximus and wrap them for Christmas. Ha!

My Mom, The Musician

I've been meaning to post about this for a while. I wanted to give a little shout out to my Mom. She is a professional organist/pianist/keyboard(ist) who has been playing almost her entire life. She started piano around 7 years of age and then added organ at 13. She took lessons for many years. One of her teachers even played for silent movies.
Back in 1965 she recorded an album and in August of this year, she had it digitally remastered on CD.

The Oaks Skating rink, and The Imperial Skating Rink. Both rinks had pipe organs. (The Oaks Skating Rink is the only rink in the WORLD that still has a pipe organ!)
In 1961, went to work for Cascade Piano and Organ Co. as demonstrator of organs/book keeper. Also gave concerts for them.
Before Organ Hits By Loretta was made, she made a Christian album, recorded by Hughlon Faulk in Oregon City.
Did some traveling over the years giving concerts and demonstrating organs.
Played numerous weddings, funerals, and church services.

Grandma LaLa gave Maximus this big furry monkey. And as much fun as this little guy looks like he's having, he's actually more fascinated by the tags than anything else, when he sees the monkey.

Maximus also loves his comb and brush that we use on his hair...so much so, that we had to buy him another set for him to play with; however, I think we could use several sets...one up stairs, downstairs, in the car, the kitchen, etc. etc.

Last week we were eating dinner, the three of us and we gave Maximus some of the veggies from the soup we had. He really liked the beans and carrots and potatoes. Rob kept talking to Maximus and saying..."b-b-b-b---bean."

"BEAN?"

Really?

That's the word you want to try and teach him to say?

haha...

Well, this is it...the last week before Christmas.

I'm gonna try and do a couple more posts at least this week and hope to stop by and see how you are doing.

Sit Back & Watch...

It's Friday and we're now almost 1 week away from Christmas! Yikes...Are you ready?

Yesterday I took a trip to the mall with Maximus. It's been a while since I've been there and I must say that I'm either getting old or I was a bit tired and hungry, but the sights, sounds and smells were enough to give me a headache.

This weekend will involve wrapping gifts, going to a fun family Christmas party followed by church on Sunday.

What a difference a week makes! Last week Rob was holding Maximus by the arms in a standing position and M started taking a few steps.

In the kitchen, Maximus likes to take a cardboard box that we have for him to play with and he'll push it across the floor. Now he's doing that standing up and he's walking with the box in front of him.

And just yesterday, M was sitting on Rob's lap and started clapping his hands together. So now if you start clapping he'll mimic you. It's so cute.

With that being said, Rob did some childproofing around the house this weekend. We now have baby gates, outlet protectors and some safety latches installed on cupboards and drawers, as well as a cover over the front of the DVD/VHS player. So now, this Mama feels like she can breathe a bit easier. Whew...(sigh)

How was your weekend? Did you do anything exciting? I hope your Monday is off to a good start.

We are looking forward to LJ & his Mom coming over to play this afternoon.

We put our tree up Thanksgiving weekend. I don't think we've ever done it that early, but I'm glad we did!

I think Maximus enjoys it too.

10 Months

I thought it would be fun to take a look back at his 1 month photo.

He has certainly changed in appearance since this shot.

Poor guy...I think he'll be happy when I'm finished taking all of these weekly/monthly photos.

I'll stop doing the weekly shots at 52 weeks, but I'm considering doing the monthly ones until he turns 2.

43 Weeks

Over the past few weeks, this guy has REALLY become mobile. He's crawling around like crazy and is into EVERYTHING! This past week he has been using things to help him stand up. He is getting good at this, but still needs to hold onto something for balance. He's really keeping us on our toes. I'm wondering when he'll start walking.

I noticed today that another tooth has poked through - one of his upper lateral incisors. So now he has 5 teeth.

He is funny about food. Sometimes he gobbles it up and other times he only eats a couple bites. I think it may have to do with teething at times. He really enjoys drinking water from sippy cups and likes the ones that his Grandma LaLa bought him. In the past, Rob and I would hold a cup up to his mouth and he'd drink like that. But now, he can do it on his own, using a sippy cup and that way he doesn't get totally soaked.

He continues to say "mama" and "dada" as well as "papa." He also says "baby" a lot. And he knows his name. If he is going towards something that he is not supposed to touch and we say, "Maximus" in a firm voice, he'll stop and look at us. We'll then say, "No" and then he pauses and usually continues towards the object until we repeat the process. Eventually we have to go grab him before he rips the VHS/DVD player from the TV cabinet or tackles our computers.

He is a sweet boy, but is very determined and persistent. He loves to play peek-a-boo and he really makes us laugh when he starts squealing. It's both exhausting and fun raising this little guy. We love him to pieces.

The Eye Exam

"I'm thinking I might need to get glasses, Maximus. My vision has been a little blurry lately."

"Don't you worry, Kooky. I have skills. Come here. I can examine your eyes for you."

"Okay, Maximus. I hope you know what you're doing!"

"Open your eyes as wide as you can. And whatever you do Kooky, DON'T blink."

"Stay with me Kooky, and continue to keep your eyes open. I'm going to perform a series of different tests."

"First, I want to apply some slight pressure to your nose."

"Next, I need to cover your left eye."

"Sometimes this maneuver helps me determine if you have vision problems."

"In extreme cases, I've found that a tap to the head with a teething ring does wonders for clearing up blurry vision."

"And one last tug for good measure should do the trick."

"That about does it, Kooky. How is your sight now?"

"Are you kidding me, Maximus? What kind of diagnosis was that?"

"I told you, Kooky...I have SKILLS!"

"I am speechless, Maximus. And exhausted after that ordeal."

"You're not the only tired one. That took a lot of work..."

"...And you're welcome, Kooky."

This guy is starting to look like a little man. Or perhaps it's the hair...I think I prefer him with his "wild" hair do.

Lately M likes to cough...and if someone coughs back, it starts a little game of coughing back and forth. I am going to have to try and get a video of this.

The last two nights, I've only had to get up once each night to nurse him. Could it be that he's going to start sleeping through the night??? I really don't mind too much either way. I realize that this time lasts only a little while and I'm fortunate to be able to nap during the day if I need to.

Maximus is getting more and more mobile. He doesn't always lie still for his weekly poses, so here's a different view this week.

He really likes to rough house with his Papa, and yesterday when they were playing, Rob had him in the air and Maximus folded himself in half as he was coming towards Rob's face. Maximus' forehead hit Rob's nose and "pop"...(that would be Rob's nose). Yep...you guessed it - Maximus broke his Papa's nose!!!

Oh boy...at least it will be something we can all laugh about later.

Rainbow in the Sky

I saw this a couple weeks ago when opening up the curtains after Maximus awoke from an afternoon nap. It reminded me that God ALWAYS keeps His promises!

It's getting increasingly harder to photograph this guy on the floor each week. He doesn't like to stay in one spot, so I'm working up a sweat trying to get him distracted and on his back. How do professional photographers do it?

Last week he started to crawl a few steps on his hands and knees. He is an active little guy, but at the same time, he loves to play quietly with his toys and discover new things around the house. He's a nice combination of fun, silly, sweet, feisty & serious. He looks SO much like his Papa in this picture. It's amazing the resemblance and I am thrilled, because I always wanted a little boy that looked just like Rob.

I was telling you last week about him on his changing table. I caught this video of him a couple days ago and thought I'd share it with you. He loves flailing his extremities all over the place. Funny thing is, he gets even wilder than this! But, I think he knew the camera was going, so he might have been a bit reserved. And that's a sock in his hand. He loves them socks. haha

Maximus is exactly 9 months old today!

Lately he has been smacking his lips together. He also started taking his fingers and running them up and down his mouth. I think he likes to hear all of the different sounds he can make.

The other day he got up in a push up position. Is he trying to tell me something? "Hey Mom...this is called exercise...Why don't you join me?" haha...

I do get some exercise though...him and I enjoy dancing together in the kitchen. He's a great dance partner. And Papa and Maximus continue to like to play together and rough house.

Maximus got a new wooden toy last week and Rob stood him up by it. Maximus grabbed the top of it, hung on and stood by himself.

I need to try and get a good shot of this on videotape...when we put Maximus on his changing table, he goes nuts with his arms and legs...moving them up and down like a wild man. It's the funniest thing and always makes me laugh.

I've come into his room a few times now to find him sitting up in his crib after taking a nap. We've lowered the crib to the lowest setting...but the next thing we'll have to do is remove one of the mattresses, and then just hope that he doesn't figure out how to climb out of the thing anytime soon.

It's so fun to see this little guy move around, but I have to keep a much closer eye on his these days. Maximus has been doing the Army crawl for awhile now. He'll also get on his hands and knees and appears like he's about ready to take off, but he hasn't figured it out yet. He's also learned how to get into a sitting position when he's lying on the floor.

He cracks us up with his funny antics. He'll take his right arm, then lifts it up and pulls his hand towards his chest and proceeds to flaps it up and down like a chicken wing. Perhaps he's been hanging around Kooky a bit too long? haha...silly boy!

I took this photo on Monday, but I'm finally getting around to posting it today. I had a horrible migraine that afternoon. Thank God it went away...

Do you have anything that you'd like to share this week, Maximus?

Well, Mom...I don't really care for socks. Actually, it's the wearing of them that annoys me. So, if you insist on putting them on my feet, I'll grab a foot and pull at least one of them off so I can put it in my mouth until it is soaking wet. Then you'll be forced to put a new pair on, unless of course we're out in public and you didn't bring any extras. Well, then I'll just go around with one sock on and one sock off...or you could just take both of them off my feet...but please don't get rid of them...I want to chew on them first.

Thanks, Maximus. I wonder what's going to happen when you start wearing shoes?

Aluminum Foil - Interesting Uses

It's hard to believe that this little guy is almost 8 months old! Lately he's been saying, "Mom-mom-mom-mom" and "Mom-ma" as well as Dad-dad-dad-dad" and "Dad-da." I don't think he knows what he's saying yet, but it's a welcome sound to our ears.

I've really missed blogging, but things have been busy and I have been so exhausted lately. Moving is tiring. We have been busy getting settled in our new place and are just about finished, except for a few finishing touches. I mean, who's ever completely done? I joked with Rob the other day that as soon as that happens, we'll be moving again.

I love...

being involved with whatever is going on. If my Mom is folding laundry or ironing, I love to watch. And when Papa is fixing stuff around the house, I am fascinated by what he is doing.

I also enjoy playing with my toys - especially ones that have rattles, I LOVE music...Mama plays big band & vocal standards a lot and I listen to smooth jazz in my room on the ipod. And of course, you know that my Papa played Journey all the time when Mama was pregnant. So, I enjoy listening to that in the car. Oh, and when I'm really in a fit, Michael Bublé calms me down, or even static on the radio. My Mama also sings songs to me all the time, such as: Jesus Loves Me, My God is So Great, The Wise Man Built is House Upon the Rock, and even a made up song.

Papa is MY hero. I love him SO much! We like to rough house and laugh. Mama will oftentimes remind him that it's time for me to go to bed and to not get me all riled up, but I will ALWAYS remember the fun times with my Papa...and how he makes me want to grow up to be a strong, loyal & generous, just like him.

On the note of sleep. I take short naps. Most of them are about 45 minutes long and Mama likes me to take 3 a day. Sleeping at night is over-rated. I prefer waking up every 3 hours or so. What can I say?? I'm thirsty for milk! And before the crack of dawn, I'm up...5:30 am is usually the time. My Mama doesn't understand why I get up SO early, but it's because I want to see Papa before he goes to work.

I love lights. The kitchen and bathroom are some of my favorite places to sit in my little bouncy chair. Speaking of my bouncy chair. I can really get that thing going up and down. I kick my legs up and down and just about bottom out the seat. I really get going when Mama starts acting goofy or dances around.

Give me a blanket, a burp cloth, a pillow or anything with fabric and I'm content. Oh, and please do NOT cut off the tags to anything. Most people think they are a nuisance, and rip out those care labels, but that's the best part of a stuffed animal or hat, or ANYTHING. Tags are the best!

I could go on and on about other stuff...
but I need to get back to my nap.

Whew...what a week! We finished moving into our new place, but still need to get settled. I'm really excited about my new room. I'm on the 3rd floor and have a pretty nice view. I think my parents are a little jealous.

What else have I been up to? Well, I am pretty good about sitting on my own, but do take an occasional tumble. And the big news is that I've been teething and my two front bottom teeth are coming in. That's about all for now.

My Mama wanted me to tell you that she misses all of you and hopes to be back visiting your blogs in the next week or two.

Hi guys, it's me...Maximus. What have I been up to you ask? I'm moving!!! Yep, you heard right, but of course, my Papa & Mama are coming along with me. We have been busy packing, cleaning and moving lots and lots of stuff. If I had it my way, I'd take a few toys and a pack of diapers and call it a wrap, but the grown ups seem to need a lot more than I do. Oh well...it's all good. And we will be in our new place this coming weekend. I can't wait!

Hi There...It's ME, Maximus again. What's new you ask? Well, I have been enjoying my playpen. (Okay, they call them pack 'n plays these days), but my Mom calls it a playpen...and Papa, well...he calls it a baby jail. haha...

What do I call it? F-U-N! I get to spend time looking out the window, staring up into the sky and watching the trees, flowers, birds and all of the interesting things outside. I also like to roll around in it, chew on my blankie & play with my toys. Oh, and I like to scratch the netting and the different fabrics inside. All those textures are SO interesting!

Summer & Maximus Turns 6 Months Old

I know many of you have been complaining of the record breaking temp's across the United States. But for us, summer seems to have FINALLY arrived in our neck of the woods...a little late coming, but we've been enjoying some sunny days this past week.

Sunshine and flowers seem to go hand in hand. I so enjoy the colors, textures & details of God's handiwork. One of my favorite things to do is sit back and soak in the view of these beauties on our patio.

Last, but not least, Maximus is 6 months old today! Wow! Where has the time gone? I love this little guy...

It's after 2:00 am right now and he's sleeping, so I will have to wait to get a snap of him at 6 months.

Oh yes, you shaped me first inside, then out; you formed me in my mother's womb. I thank you, High God—you're breathtaking! Body and soul, I am marvelously made! What I'm talking about has to do with lifting objects. I'm including a link to a blog titled, Katy Says, that my Mom sent me.

In a recent post, Katy shows a video on the correct way to lift things. Yes...you should lift with your legs and not your back, but there's more to it. She demonstrates it here on this short video.

I've been doing a lot of lifting lately. I'm sure it has something to do with a little guy named, Maximus. Just a few short months ago, there were times when I would wake up in the morning and could barely get out of bed. On a few occasions, Rob had to actually help me. Once I got up and started moving, I was okay.

Perhaps you'll find this useful. And of course, like anything else, always check with a health care professional about any back issues you may be having.

The other day, I noticed that Maximus was "wearing" one of his toys. It made me laugh...he gets this teething ring up around his arm.

So, yesterday I got a photo of his shoulder accessory. haha...

I've also seen him wear his set of toy keys, as a bracelet. Hmmm...maybe he's onto something. Perhaps a jewelry line for babies? Silly Boy!

Last weekend we started feeding Maximus some rice cereal. He kept grabbing for the spoon, so it made it difficult to get into his mouth, but he did a great job. Towards the end of the feeding, he started getting the hang of it more and would open his mouth.

The other day Rob noticed that some birds caught Maximus' attention outside.

Besides talking and laughing...M is starting to whisper. It's really funny! Kind of hard to explain, but he does this "rahhh, rahhh, rahhh" kind of thing. His little voice is so cute. I tell Rob that he reminds me of an Ewok from Star Wars. haha...

He continues to be the BEST shopper. I can go to the grocery store or do other shopping and he is content in his car carrier/seat. As long as he has a full tummy and a clean diaper.

So fun - ALL of these new little discoveries...

Maximus continues to kick like crazy, roll over, talk, laugh and now he's starting to sit on his own for short spurts. It is so fun to watch his development. I'm thinking once he starts crawling, I'm going to get a really good workout chasing him down.

Here Comes The Rain Again

Happy 20 weeks!

Here's a little synopsis on Maximus these days...

He LOVES his swing and that's his primary place that he sleeps. The longest he's slept in his crib at one time is 2 hours; however, he does well dozing off in the car carrier/seat when I take him shopping.

He's not sleeping through the night, but when he does wake to nurse he goes back to sleep real fast.

He has moments where he talks a lot and is pretty vocal with his sighs and yawns. He does this dramatic, 'aaaahhhhhhuuuum' sound...(like 'hey, I'm bored!')

When he gets laughing good, he'll squeal.

He nurses every 2-3 hours and naps are usually 45 minutes long.

We have a sound machine that plays different sounds/white noise and it helps him sleep and stay asleep. In the car if he's crying, we turn it to static and that usually does the trick. He also loves listening to Journey. Maybe it's because Rob played it a ton when I was pregnant.

When he's super inconsolable, the vacuum cleaner is his best friend or we'll listen to Michael Bublé's version of, "Feeling Good." I'll look it up on youtube, the live version with David Foster and I'll play it for him. It's like a magic pill. ha!

The Max Man is also rolling over a lot. We'll put him on his tummy and if his arms are out in front of him, he rolls immediately to the right.

He likes reaching for things. And whatever he gets a hold of, goes towards his mouth. He likes lying on his play mat and reaching up at the different toys hanging above. When he can't get them, he tends to get a little frustrated at times. I would too! :)

Bath time is one of his favorite things. I think he's going to be a good swimmer.

He also enjoys looking outside and being outdoors. I like taking him for walks in the baby jogger around the neighborhood.

He can be both independent and cuddly. I kiss him about 200 times a day.

Maximus and his Papa adore each other. It's so fun to watch the two of them together. It melts my heart. I have to say that I am pretty blessed! Rob is such an amazing support! He loves spending time with Maximus and is always offering to pick up food, go to the grocery store or help with anything else.

I am one happy girl!

I want to wish my Father a Happy Day! Dad, you are such a kind, gentle, loving man. Thanks for your steadfast example. I couldn't ask for a better Father!

I'm also very grateful to have an awesome Father-in-law. Happy Father's Day to you, Bernie! I hope your day is special.

Last, but not least, I want to say, Happy 1st Father's Day to my husband. Rob, I love watching you with our little guy. You are an amazing Father and Maximus is so blessed to call you his Papa! You are the best!

Around the Pond

The weather is finally starting to cooperate, so Maximus and I have been going for walks in the neighborhood. The pond across the street is one of my favorite spots.

Such a serious look...but I can assure you that he REALLY did have fun!

What are your plans this summer? Are you going to hang out close to home or do you have any big trips lined up?

It's hard to believe how fast this little guy is growing up!
He'll be 4 months old tomorrow.
Before we know it, he'll be graduating from High School...
But, we still have lots to look forward to and we are enjoying each and every stage.

This True Blue Spa Acrylic Foot File from Bath & Body Works works great for those rough heels. Believe me, it works just about as good as sandpaper. Ha! I kid you not...on my wedding day, that's what I used on my heels. (Please don't try that at home, kids).

So, what are your plans this weekend?

Thank you for the sweet comments regarding LaLa's Father/Rob's Grandfather. I wanted to share a poem that my Father-in-law read at the service. He did a wonderful job and added his perfect spin to this thought provoking poem.

If you've never heard of the poem, called The Dash, written by Linda Ellis you have to watch this short video here. It's incredibly beautiful!

Goodbye for Now...

Rob's grandfather (LaLa's Dad), passed away last Tuesday and today is the funeral service.

I am so thankful that we got to see him in the hospital on Mother's Day.
That was the first and last time that Maximus got to see his Great Grandpa,
until we see him again in heaven someday...

This is how much God loved the world: He gave his Son, his one and only Son. And this is why: so that no one need be destroyed; by believing in him, anyone can have a whole and lasting life.
