Veggie Bars

I got this recipe from a friend years ago and have made it many times since. If you like veggies and cream cheese, you are gonna like this tasty little snack!

VEGGIE BARS
Ingredients:

  • 2 Cans of Crescent Rolls

  • 2 - 8 oz packages of Cream Cheese

  • 1 package (3/4 oz) Uncle Dan’s Dressing

  • 1 Cup Sour Cream

  • Carrots, Broccoli, Cauliflower, Cheddar Cheese

    Directions:

  • Smooth out Crescent Rolls onto Cookie Sheet & Bake. (Follow baking times on directions of can.) Allow to cool.

  • Mix (blend) Cream Cheese, Sour Cream & Uncle Dan’s Dressing in a bowl until smooth. Spread mixture over cooled rolls.

  • Chop vegetables in a blender/food processor & layer on top of cream cheese spread. Top with Cheddar Cheese.

  • Best when refrigerated all night.

  • Here's a step by step process with pictures:

Roll out 2 cans of Crescent rolls onto a cookie sheet.

Follow Baking instructions on Cresent Roll Package. When finished, remove from oven and allow to cool completely.

In a bowl, mix together Cream Cheese, Sour Cream & Uncle Dan’s Dressing until smooth.

Chop vegetables separately in a blender/food processor - Broccoli, Cauliflower & Carrots (about 1-2 cups each)

Grate some Cheddar Cheese (about 1 - 2 cups)

Once the rolls have been allowed to cool completely, spread the Cream Cheese, Sour Cream & Uncle Dan's Mixture over the top.

Layer with Cauliflower, Carrots and Broccoli. I let these veggies stay in the food processor a little too long. Try doing more of a rough chop.

    Top with Cheddar Cheese
    Refrigerate
Cut into little squares and serve as an appetizer

I bet if your kids hate veggies, they will like this. Oh, I'm getting hungry as I type this...too bad I don't have all the ingredients to make some right now.

    Enjoy!

    Making a list...

Do you ever have the draw to do something creative, but have so many things that you want to do that it's hard to know where to start? That's me...I wouldn't call myself super duper talented, but I try...I love color & texture & fabric & paper & photos & sewing & painting & lots of other things...

I think I need to make a list of the things that I want to do...a realistic list...nothing too crazy or unachievable and then pick one and do it!

Is there something that you're wanting to do and have been putting it off?

    Out in the country

Yesterday I went for a long walk with a friend who lives out near the country. We ended up going about 5 miles. I took some pictures along the way...

    Beautiful Day

Today I drove to the pond near our place and went for a walk. I thought I'd take my camera and gets some pictures...the sun was out, the air was crisp, and I saw some more signs of spring!

    Tuesday's

Okay...in an effort to provide some comic relief as well as consistency in blogging, I am declaring, Tuesday's - 'Kooky Tuesday'...and you guessed it, Kooky Chicken, our special guest star will be appearing! I'll be posting a snap so you can see what's going on in Kooky's life.

Kooky exercising! Doesn't he just inspire you to want to hit the gym or walk around the park or lift some weights?

    Seasons

I wouldn't mind seeing some more snow, like we had a year ago...

    BUT...

When I see signs of green life poking through the dirt...

I kind of get excited for Spring. Actually, it looks like Herman might be too!

How about you? Are you ready for Winter to be over?

    Random

I feel stuck...not knowing what to write/post lately on my blog. So, when all else fails, I'll go with some random snaps I took today.

    Stained Glass Lampshade

Rob made that Candle Holder and Lampshade years ago. He's quite the multi-functional, talented guy. That's what I think I need...a project. Anyone working on anything fun?

Hope you're having a great weekend!

    Tips & Tricks

Here are some household tips that I received through an email that circulated years ago. I've tried the ones that are listed below. Perhaps you've read or heard of them already...but just in case, I thought I would share them with you:

    REHEAT PIZZA
Heat up leftover pizza on a non-stick skillet (electric or on the stove), set heat to med-low and heat till warm. This keeps the crust crispy. No soggy micro pizza. It's better than the first time around!

    FOGGY WINDSHIELD
Hate foggy windshields? Buy a chalkboard (felt) eraser and keep it in the glove box of your car. When the windows fog, rub with the eraser. This takes that film off the inside of the windshield. Works better than cloth!

    CONDITIONER
Use hair conditioner to shave your legs. It's a lot cheaper (depending on the brand you buy) than shaving cream and leaves your legs really smooth. It's also a great way to use up the conditioner you bought but didn't like when you tried it on your hair...

    SINK DRAIN PLUG
This one was actually given to me by my Mother-in-Law. Leave your sink drain plug (is that what you call it?) in the dishwasher. When you go to use it, it will be clean. If you keep it there all the time it will get washed every time you run your dishwasher.

I love hearing about household tips or cool ideas. Do you have any that you'd like to share? If so, please leave a comment.

    Happy day!
