God Bless America

Don't you love our flag?

It's so majestic the way it waves in the air...So, the other day, after I finished some shopping, I noticed the huge flag in the parking lot of the grocery store.

I love the Olympics. It's kind of sad to see them coming to an end. Isn't it cool that the U.S. is leading in the medal count? Have you been watching them? What's your favorite event? I'm really enjoying speed skating. The short track is so fun to watch!

Hope you're having a good weekend!

Go USA!

Exercise

The other day I went for a walk with my Mom in her neck of the woods. My parents live close to a creek, so we ventured out on one of the trails. There were some pretty spots along the way, so I decided to take a few snaps with my cell phone.

I've been trying to exercise more consistently, this year. Walking, treadmill, pilates, cardio, etc...

What's your favorite workout or exercise routine that you do?

Happy Day!

Kooky Tuesday

Kooky went to see the Dr. today...

Actually, I took Rob to the ENT for a follow up appointment. While he was in the restroom, I grabbed Kooky out of my purse and sat him on the chair and took a couple snaps. I'm so glad the Doc didn't see Kooky. How would I have explained the change in Rob's appearance?

Happy day!

Walk in the Sunshine

After several days of not exercising and eating one too many donuts last night, I decided to go for a long walk this afternoon. It was a beautiful sunny day, so I decided to take my camera along. Spring is definitely hitting our area about a month earlier...I'm lovin' it!

I hope you're having a good weekend!

Tortilla Soup

I love this soup! It's the easiest thing in the world to make, and tasty, too! I got the idea from a Mexican restaurant that we ate at years ago and I've been making it numerous times since!

The ingredients:
  • Minestrone Soup (Whatever kind you want. I like to make it simple, so I go for the canned soup ~ Progresso's Minestrone with NO MSG)
  • Grated Cheddar Cheese
  • Tortilla Chips
    • Pour a can of soup in a bowl and heat it up in the microwave

Once soup is heated, shred some cheddar cheese to go on top.

Next, crunch up some Tortilla Chips or use the small pieces that you get at the bottom of the bag.

And finally, Add a little more cheddar cheese to the top and you're ready to eat!

      Souper easy! Souper yummy...That sounds so cheesy...ha ha...(sorry, I couldn't resist)

      Have a great weekend!

      Kooky Tuesday

Kooky Chicken up a tree...actually a house plant...

He thinks he's a monkey or something...

This was actually my hubby's idea. Poor guy, my hubby that is; he's been sick battling a sinus infection and awful ear pain. Maybe he's growing a little stir crazy and tired of being sick...or maybe he's living vicariously through Kooky...LOL...

      Get better soon, Rob!
And Kooky, face it...You're not a monkey...get down from the tree.

      Happy Day!

      Color Spots

We had a couple nice days of weather this week, so I took advantage of it yesterday and planted some primroses. Oh, how they make me happy...I love seeing COLOR outside again!

I had to throw a bone to Herman. Here he lives, amongst the growing tulips & daffodils. I think he was getting a little jealous that Kooky Chicken was getting more attention than him, lately. Are you better now, Herman???

      Happy Day!

      Kooky Tuesday

It's late in the day, but I didn't want to let a Tuesday go by without doing a 'Kooky Tuesday' post.

So, you know the old saying/question ~ "Why did the Chicken cross the road?" The typical response is: "To get to the other side." Well, Kooky has another theory...he is tired of all the other people/animals, etc. having their own street signs...

Enough is enough! He is protesting and wants his own sign saying, "SLOW ~ Chickens Playing!"

(Just a little footnote...didn't notice the bird pooh until after uploading the picture...no worries though, Kooky Chicken was given a bath with an antibacterial wipe.)

      Happy day!

      Tile

My parents are in the process of having their bathroom remodeled. They started with their smaller bathroom and now they are on a roll to do more. It's been a lot of fun to see the progress.

I also have a few friends that are building houses or remodeling and I really enjoy following those blogs...So, I decided to get in on some of the action and take some pictures and do some blogging on the progress of my parent's remodel.

The other day I went with my Mom & Dad to a couple of tile stores. What fun fun places to shop! Here are some photos from the store that they found their decorative tile strip that they're going to use to go along with their granite in the tub/shower.

The front piece is a sample of the granite that they are using for the inside of the bath/shower & countertops. The tiles they chose are much prettier...(but you can get an idea of the colors, design, etc) The sample behind will be used (4 squares in height) as the decorative strip.

I will show you some pictures of their bathroom ~ the before, during and after remodel stages on another day; but for now, I will leave you with some pictures of the store...

I found it to be a fun trip...so cool to look at the different textures, colors, stones and designs. I really liked the rocks, especially the dark/black ones. The lady that was helping my parents said that people use that a lot in showers as the floor. So cool...don't you think? Very spa-like.

Okay...on that note, I think I could use a massage.
      Have a good weekend, everyone!

      Cell Phone Pic

Recently, my husband and I got new cell phones, so that meant transferring my pictures that I had on my old phone to my computer. I was browsing through them today and ran across this snap that a good friend of mine sent to me last year. I believe this was taken in California.

Doesn't that yellow make you happy? I just wouldn't want to get too close ~ those spiky things look dangerous!

      Happy Day!
