Rematch

" Hey Maximus...How about a wrestling rematch? Last time you beat me, but today, I think I can take you!"
"You really think so Kooky? Okay...let's do it!"
"Hiiiii-yah!"
"I've got you pinned..."
~Gasp~
"I gotcha, Kooky! There's no way you can get out of this one!"
"Maaaaax...i...mus! I ca...n't breeee..athe!!!"
"You are choking me!!!"
"Kooky, I must say, you don't look yourself."
"Well, what do you expect a chicken to look like, after he's been practically choked to death?"
"I think I'm going to pass out now."
"Don't worry, Kooky...I'll save you! I'm certified in CPR."
"Ouch, Kooky! I think you bit me on the lip!"
"I didn't mean to Maximus...I was just gasping for air! I don't think you realize your strength."
"Oops...I guess not. Sorry about that, Kooky. I wasn't trying to hurt you."

A New Friend

"I know you are still hung up on me, Kooky Girl...and I feel bad, because I just don't think we'd make a very good couple; however, I wanted to introduce you to a new friend of mine."
"Keep your eyes closed until I say, 'Open.' Okay?"
"Mmmwaaah!"
"Uhhhh...I don't recall saying, 'Open your eyes!' Come on Kooky Girl. It's not very polite to kiss someone you've never met."
"Crazy Quack, this is Kooky Girl."
"You'll have to forgive Kooky Girl, Crazy Quack. She's a bit...um...Kooky!"
~ That was awkward! I should have known better! ~

Happy Feet

This True Blue Spa Acrylic Foot File from Bath & Body Works works great for those rough heels. Believe me, it works just about as good as sandpaper. Ha! I kid you not...on my wedding day, that's what I used on my heels. (Please don't try that at home, kids).

So, what are your plans this weekend?
Perhaps a pedicure?

The Dash

Thank you for the sweet comments regarding LaLa's Father/Rob's Grandfather. I wanted to share a poem that my Father-in-law read at the service. He did a wonderful job and added his perfect spin to this thought provoking poem.

If you've never heard of the poem, called The Dash, written by Linda Ellis you have to watch this short video here. It's incredibly beautiful!

Here's another way to put it: You're here to be light,
bringing out the God-colors in the world.
God is not a secret to be kept.
We're going public with this, as public as a city on a hill.
If I make you light-bearers, you don't think I'm going to hide you under a bucket, do you?
I'm putting you on a light stand.
Now that I've put you there on a hilltop, on a light stand—shine!
Keep open house; be generous with your lives.
By opening up to others, you'll prompt people to open up with God, this generous Father in heaven.
Matthew 5:14-16 (The Message)

Live your dash...

Goodbye for Now...

Rob's grandfather (LaLa's Dad), passed away last Tuesday and today is the funeral service.
I am so thankful that we got to see him in the hospital on Mother's Day.
That was the first and last time that Maximus got to see his Great Grandpa,
until we see him again in heaven someday...

This is how much God loved the world: He gave his Son, his one and only Son. And this is why: so that no one need be destroyed; by believing in him, anyone can have a whole and lasting life.
John 3:16 (The Message)

14 Weeks

At 14 weeks old...
Mr. Maximus loves to sit up (not on his own, of course) but he likes to see what's going on.
He continues to crack us up with his expressions.
He can go from a grumpy face to a smiling face in a few seconds.
He's starting to laugh, which is the best!
Whenever he gets up from sleep or finishes nursing, he does big  s t r e t c h e s.
I should take note and follow suite, since my back has been giving me some troubles lately.
The Max Man loves to lie on his changing table and wiggle, stretch & kick.
He continues to grab at Rob's face and loves his Papa so much!
We are so blessed and we love you, Mr. Maximus!

Children are a gift from the Lord;
they are a real blessing.

Sing It!

LaLa's Tulips

 O Lord, I will always sing of your constant love;
I will proclaim your faithfulness forever.
I know that your love will last for all time,
that your faithfulness is as permanent as the sky.

Happy Mother's Day

These beautiful camellias were from a dear sweet friend that threw me a baby shower last Sunday

Happy Mother's Day to all you Moms out there!
And to those of you that love on children as if they are your own - God Bless You.

I want to send a special greeting to my Mom & Mother-in-law.
I love you both!

Oh yes, you shaped me first inside, then out;
you formed me in my mother's womb.
I thank you, High God—you're breathtaking!
Body and soul, I am marvelously made!
I worship in adoration—what a creation!
You know me inside and out,
you know every bone in my body;
You know exactly how I was made, bit by bit,
how I was sculpted from nothing into something.
Like an open book, you watched me grow from conception to birth;
all the stages of my life were spread out before you,
The days of my life all prepared
before I'd even lived one day.
Psalm 139:13-16 (The Message)

A Drawer a Day

I don't know about you, but the thought of spring cleaning makes me both excited and unmotivated. I love a clean, organized place, but trying to tidy up the whole place at once can be pretty overwhelming. So, I've been trying to do little bits and pieces lately. Actually, this started almost a year ago when we found out that I was pregnant. We had waaaay too much "stuff" that we were holding onto, in hopes of using it one day in a bigger place. Well, it got to the point that we needed to make some decisions and purge the things that had been just sitting around.

I'm a saver. There's no doubt about that. My husband is one too, but he has a much easier time parting with things when there is a end purpose in mind. So, we had many "conversations" about particular items and why we should save them...In reality, it was me trying to convince him that we needed it or that I had some emotional attachment and couldn't part with the item. Most of the time he won, and I have to say, I'm glad he did.

It's such a freeing feeling to not be weighed down by material possessions. Don't get me wrong. I like nice stuff, just like any other girl, but there is a true sense of appreciation and gratitude when the "stuff doesn't have you."

So, we purged and got rid of and donated a ton of stuff. But...there are still those places - our dressers, bathroom cupboards, filing cabinets...you get the idea...places that still need to be gone through and cleaned out. It seems like a never ending task at times. But, once I start, it's very addictive...in a good way, I might add.

My goal is going to be to take one drawer a day and organize it. Easy enough, right? I'm not talking the entire dresser...I'm talking about 1 drawer of the dresser. That should be a cinch, don't you think? Or take for example my desk workspace or the kitchen counter tops. I could pick one of those and do it in a day as well. To make this even more reasonable to tackle, I'm going to give myself a month. I'm not going to do it every single day, but when I do decide to organize, I'm just going to do a bite size at a time.

I can do this! I think I'm actually getting excited now! This project is not going to be so daunting. Yahoo!

What about you? Do you want to join me in this little challenge? Think of all of the drawers we could clean!

Horsing Around

"What should we do today, Maximus?"
"I don't know...Let me think."
"I've got a great idea! Let's wrestle!"
"Hi-yah! Gotchya Kooky!"
"Hey watch out! NO cheap shots in the eye!"
"That hurt!"
"I'm sorry, Maximus..."
"I'll kiss it and make it feel better."
"Hello...that's not my eye!"

12 Weeks

Over the past several weeks, Maximus has discovered that he has hands. He'll really study them, reach for things, including his papa's face and loves putting just about anything in his mouth these days.

Hoping you have a good start to your week!
