24 Weeks

 

I had an OB appointment today and heard Santino's heartbeat again. This time I recorded it with my cell phone. It's amazing how fast that little heart is thumping in there.

 

I spoke to my Doctor about waiting until my due date instead of being induced a week earlier. My due date is Aug. 19th, so that would mean having Santino on the 12th instead, if I go that long. She really encouraged, almost insisted, that we stick to the plan of inducing. This is due to being over the age of 40. The risk of having complications with the baby increase if you wait too long. I am not too concerned, but I don't want to take any chances, so I'll do what's best for this little guy on the inside.

  

Overall, this pregnancy has gone well so far. I should say that the 1st trimester was hard because I felt so nauseous, but I am doing well now.  This time I do think I'm probably more tired though. When I was pregnant with Maximus I had a lot of swelling...to the point of having to get my wedding ring cut off. I also had issues with my wrists hurting and occasional migraines. I remember getting up in the middle of the night to eat with my 1st pregnancy. I've avoided all of these things so far, this time around.

 

It's amazing to think that I'll be holding another baby in 3 1/2 months.

What's a Little Dirt?

Yesterday my parents watched Maximus while I went to a Dentist appointment. When I got back to their house, the first thing I noticed was M's face. It looked like he was wearing makeup or had eaten something messy.

 

Instead, it was dirt!

While he was outside playing, my Mom said he repeatedly grabbed a handful of dirt, brought it up in the air and then let it fall to the ground.

 

He also enjoyed "working" in the yard.

 

 We are talking serious play here...

 

He looks pretty cute with a moustache, don't you think?

 

I am loving the sunny days we have had this week. It almost feels like summer. Makes me want to plant some flowers.

 

How are you? I have been the worst blogger lately. All is good though.

Drummer Boy

Thanks for all of the sweet congrats and comments on my last post.

 

We had fun celebrating at Benihana last week after we found out that we were going to have another boy. I thought I'd include a little video of Maximus playing the drums with some broken chopsticks. We were lucky to have the entire table to ourselves. He had a blast at this place - the food, the chef and mostly these sticks!

 

 

 This boy loves the band, Journey! As you may recall, Rob played this and other music a lot when I was pregnant with M. Even now, Maximus begs to hear "Joo-knee" while sitting on Papa's lap at the computer.

IT'S A...

Today I had the ultrasound.

It seemed like it took forever for the technician to get all of the necessary measurements, because this baby was on the move! I actually became a little uncomfortable having the wand (transducer) push down on my VERY full bladder of water.

All looked good...the baby is healthy, weighing in around 12 or 13 oz. We feel very blessed - Thank you, Lord!

My doctor informed me today that because of my age, they won't let me go the full 40 weeks. They will induce me at 39 weeks if the baby hasn't come. That means I will have the baby on or before August 12th. My original due date was August 19th which is my Mom's birthday. Needless to say, I was a little sad that we won't make that date. Rob is hoping for the 2nd of August, since that's his birthday.

Okay...I know, I know...I've been dragging this out. You want to know one more tiny detail? Like perhaps, if it's a boy or a girl?

BOY


Yep! Maximus is going to have a little brother! We've decided to name this baby Santino. His middle name will be Robert.

Tonight the 3 of us...
or 4 of us I should say, went out to celebrate at Benihana. It was a lot of fun. We went early enough that we had our own table. The chef was very entertaining to Maximus.

The chopsticks were a huge hit with him as well. Rob broke them apart and Maximus used them as drumsticks.

I am very excited that we'll have a house full of boys. In my mind I was thinking it was going to be a girl, but Rob always felt it would be a boy. I grew up with 3 brothers, so I'm used to being the only girl. In fact, I kind of like it. I told Rob that they would have to spoil me even more!

Fun Day

 Yesterday we spent the afternoon at Rob's parents. They put out the hammock, so that was a treat for M. As usual, he had a lot of fun being there.
 

M has been talking about wanting to "holt" (hold) his baby cousin. Yesterday he did it for the first time.

 

He was so sweet and loving to her...

 

He had fun outside...exploring Grandma LaLa's pretty garden décor.

 

And loved playing with the bucket and adding to the leaves and sticks that were in there already.

 

We didn't have much time yesterday for Easter at home since we wanted to go to church in the morning and by the time we got home from Grandpa & Grandma's M needed to eat and get to bed soon...

 

So we waiting until this evening and let him play with his little Easter baskets. This is the first year I got him anything...it's really getting to be a fun age with him.

 

**Pregnancy Update**
20 weeks (or 4 1/2 months) today! I'm half way there!
 

I am SUPER excited!!! Wednesday I go for the ultrasound and hopefully they'll be able to tell us the baby's gender!!!

 

Lately when I ask Maximus if he thinks it's a boy or girl, he'll say, "guh guh."
