Tea Time

Maximus likes drinking herbal tea on occasion. The other day he asked for some and decided on a lemon flavor.

Seems like the perfect drink of choice to sip on while overlooking some workers sealing our street. Don't you think?

At times, this kid has an old soul. He cracks me up!

I thought I'd take the opportunity to snap a few "selfies" of the two of us.

We had fun...

In case you were wondering, Santino was sleeping.

Meanwhile, Maximus drank the entire cup of tea.

Yep!

Every.Last.Drop.

Then he decided to have fun with the curtains.

I SEE YOU!!!

Simple moments caught on camera...Life is good!

3 Weeks

Santino is starting to put on some weight. Here are his stats from the hospital and his pediatrician well visits.

At birth: 5 pounds 14 ounces
3 days old: 5 pounds 7 ounces
5 days old: 5 pounds 5 ounces
16 days old: 6 pounds 5 ounces

He has a healthy appetite. I nurse him, on average, every 3 hours around the clock. It tends to be more often during the day. At night, he sometimes goes 4 hours in-between feedings.

He's also grown 1/4" in length since he made his debut. I'm sure it has to do with him being able to stretch and exercise those muscles a little more freely now; although, he's still very comfortable being in the familiar fetal position. I love how he cuddles up into a little ball when we hold him. He also likes to cross one ankle over the other.

Santino continues to sleep well if he's swaddled and at home. Being out and about tends to throw him off and the car seat isn't his favorite place to nap. The seat belt about swallows him up, since he's still so small.

What a sweet baby! We love you, Santino!

Hanging Out

Maximus is always touching Santino's head. We keep telling him that he needs to be gentle and for the most part he is. It's really sweet though...when he sees the baby in the room, he likes to stop and touch his head or give him a little pat.

Santino is wrapped up the way he likes to be - nice and cozy!

Maximus was so cute. He picked up these blocks and asked me to take his picture.

Sweet little feet...

M wanted to show the baby his blocks.

Sweet brothers...

The Past Couple of Weeks...

I've been meaning to post more, but it's hard to find the time lately. :)

This was Santino's first time in the car seat, just before we left the hospital. The first couple of days home were an adjustment for all of us. It was a little tough on Maximus at first. He was doing things he wasn't suppose to do in order to get attention. Now he's doing just fine. It's amazing how fast children adapt to their surroundings!

We've had some shopping adventures with the family. Maximus had fun "driving" this shopping cart with Santino in the basket.

Santino does well in the car, but sometimes he cries. The other day I remembered that when Maximus did this as a baby we would turn the radio to a static station. The white noise would calm him down. Well, it works for Santino as well.

Maximus loves holding his baby brother.

This picture was taken one evening when Maximus and Santino were In our bed. Maximus leaned over and kissed Santino and said, "I love you baby. Have a good sleepy." Moments like these melt my heart!

Last week when Rob was home, we enjoyed a picnic. Maximus is a true helper! He LOVES to hold the car carrier when we're taking the baby places.

Surprisingly, I haven't taken a ton of photos. I need to do more, but here are a couple close ups. This is one of Santino's typical "frowny faces" that we see a lot...ha!

Love his round little nose.

XOXO

2 Weeks

Today was my actual due date, but this guy showed up 2 weeks early! It's been a busy couple of weeks. I was so thankful to have Rob at home during this time and like always, he was such a help! He went back to work today, so this marked the first day I was solo with the boys. It went well.

Here's a few things about Santino. He sleeps most of the time, but when he is awake and his eyes are open he is quite alert.

Even though he's so tiny, he is quite strong! I notice this when I'm trying to change his diaper or dress him...not his favorite thing. He lets us know this by exercising his lungs. I have to say I can't blame him though.

If we put him on his back he tends to roll to his side.

He makes the cutest little squeaks and noises.

Life is good. I will try and post more pictures this week.

p.s. Happy Birthday to my Mom today! And, while I'm at it, Happy Birthday to Rob who celebrated his day on the 2nd. He was hoping that Santino would be born on his birthday...he only missed it by 3 days!

ALSO...I wanted to give a shout out to a dear friend who made this gorgeous quilt for Santino that you see in this picture! Her name is Cindy and I met her several years ago through facebook when I played a game called Farm Town. Since then we have corresponded and have become good friends. Even though I've never met her, she was so sweet to do this. In fact, she sent presents to the 4 of us!

Well, that's about a wrap. I need to get to bed. I hope you are all doing well. Thanks so much for stopping by and for your kind comments and wishes.

1 Week

It's hard to believe that Santino was born last Monday! What a difference a week makes! He made his debut 2 weeks earlier than expected and caught me off guard. Much to my surprise, my water broke in our bed. Thankfully, Rob was able to rip off the bedding before it soaked through to the mattress. haha... (Too much info - I know)!

In the hospital, soon after Santino was born, he kept opening up only one eye. Rob was calling him Captain Hook, while one of the nurses jokingly said he looked like a pirate. Speaking of Santino's eyes, they are a beautiful blue color.

Santino, to this point, has been an easy baby. He sleeps well and likes (or has to be) swaddled. He loves to eat, but doesn't know his limits, so let's just say, this equates to LOTS of dirty laundry!

Sometimes when he sneezes, he'll add a little yelp at the end. The sound reminds me of a little doggie barking saying "aaahhh"...So cute!

He has the longest toes and fingers and is very skinny. Last Friday at the Doctor's he weighed in at whopping 5 pounds 7 ounces.

We feel so blessed and honored to have Santino as our child. The meaning of his name is "little saint" or "little angel," and it fits him perfectly.

Happy day!

Proud Papa & Mama

Family of 4 Now! Maximus was so cute when he met his brother for the first time today. He kept saying "funny baby" and "P U." haha...

It's Really Happening!!!

My water broke at 3:45 am today! I am sitting in the delivery room at the hospital waiting for my lunch to come. I am starving! No real contractions to speak of yet. If nothing happens in the next couple of hours I will most likely be induced.

Not sure when I will post again, but we are excited! Santino should he here today or tomorrow!

Happy day!
