A Quote From Maximus

Maximus has been saying this over the past month or two. He just turned 3 1/2. Where does he get this stuff? haha

My best friend Shirley put this image and quote together from here. She found a standard template from their site and typed out M's quote. Pretty cool, don't you think?

Have a great week!

Checking In

I have been taking a break from blogging lately. All of us have been sick. A couple weeks ago, I came down with an awful cold and was completely exhausted. Good thing Rob helped out a lot and I was able to stay in bed most of the first weekend I was ill. I'm feeling better, but the coughing and congestion is still hanging on.

A few days after I got sick, Maximus got the flu and threw up 3 times in one day. Poor guy. He also had a fever that was over 103 degrees at one point. He bounced back, (so I thought) several days later, but then came down with my cold.

For a while, Santino was the only healthy one in the family. But he too succumbed to the flu with high temps like Maximus and also got a cold. It's hard with kids, because when one child is sick, it seems like the other is bound to get it too.

Both boys have been coughing and have been congested. I called the advice nurse a couple of times, but it appeared to be a viral infection, so there wasn't anything they could do...so we've been waiting it out at home. We've had to cancel Santino's birthday party with our families a couple of times now and will have to reschedule when everyone is well.

This was taken today when the boys were rocking in the chair like they enjoy doing. They are getting better. Slowly, but surely.

But, poor Rob. Throughout this whole ordeal, he's been sick; however, it really hit him hard a few days ago. And today, he came home early from work and has been in bed all day!

I will be so glad when we're all back to 100%. Being sick is no fun...I hate seeing the boys sick, the most. It really makes me appreciate me and my family's health!

Well, this wasn't supposed to be a feel sorry for us kind of post, but just wanted to share what's been going on. It seems so strange to be so sick in the middle of summer.

Do you ever get sick this time of year? It's no fun, anytime of the year, right? I hope all of you are well! Stay healthy!

Happy !st Birthday Santino

 Happy 1st Birthday, Santino!!!

I can't believe this little guy is ONE today. He opened some presents...or more like Maximus opened them. We also enjoyed some cake & gelato. This weekend we're going to have a party with our families.

Santino Bambino...
We love you SO much!

52 Weeks

What a year!

Yep...we are at the final weekly photo for this little guy. He turns ONE tomorrow!!!

We all figured he would be walking before his birthday and that is definitely the case. Over the past week it has become his main mode of transportation.

He's got another tooth poking through. It will be his 8th tooth, on the bottom right, next to the center front.

In the mornings Santino loves waving goodbye to Rob as he leaves for work and when he's backing out the driveway.

A new thing Santino does - he'll lie on his tummy and will rest his head on the floor, as if he's going to take a nap. Then, a second or two later, he'll get up.

He still likes to crawl around in circles on the floor too. It's pretty funny to watch.

I put him down for 2 naps a day, but oftentimes, he'll fight the morning nap and won't sleep. He's not ready to go to just one nap a day, so I plan on continuing until he consistently refuses the morning nap.

Santino enjoys peanut butter and honey sandwiches. I know you're supposed to wait at least a year before you feed them those things (sometimes longer), but he has shown no adverse reaction.

He is a big climber. He'll climb into Maximus' bed and Maximus' little rocking chair. I have a feeling that it's only going to continue the older he gets.

Santino likes books, but is more interested in holding them himself and eating them as opposed to having someone read to him. Maximus was the SAME way as a baby. I'm sure it is a phase that will pass, because Maximus now enjoys books. But I find it to be interesting when people say their babies love being read to.

Santino is all boy. He loves to be rough and tumble and joins right in with the climbing, jumping and wrestling that goes on in this house. He's a very sweet boy. Observant. Sensitive, yet tough. And very determined.

We LOVE YOU, Santino!

Both of these boys are such a blessing to our family. I'm so happy that they have each other to grow up with and experience this life together.

Happy Birthday Rob!

I had a nice time with my "boys," celebrating Rob's birthday today. Since Rob doesn't like making a big deal out of his day, we played it pretty low key. We took M & S to the park this morning, grabbed some burgers and brought them home for lunch and had some cake after dinner tonight. And in between all of that, Rob helped out around the house, went to the store and played with the boys.

Here's a little video of Maximus & Santino having fun with some balloons this evening.

IMPORTANT WARNING!!! I received the following message from a friend who saw this video on Facebook:  "Heidi, I am going to share an expierence that is not unknown to many Pediatric ICU nurses. I am only doing this because I have seen very sad outcomes. Latex balloons can be deadly to children. They bite them or try to make the squeaky sound. If they bite the balloon and it pops the peice of latex can be forced by the pop into the kids airway and cover the trachea. It seals with suction and even the heimlech cannot force it off. The result can just be awful....Mylar balloons are safe. Latex balloons are fun but just keep them in the air and let the kids play with the Mylar balloons!..." I am SO thankful she shared this with me and I will heed her advice!

We love you, Rob! Thanks for taking care of me and our boys! Praying for blessings over your life!

Love,
Heidi, M & S
