29 Weeks

He's a rocker and a bouncer

 

No...he's not a rock star or bodyguard. But, this baby loves to rock and bounce! Last week he started getting on his hands and knees rocking back and forth. One of these days, soon we think, he's going to take off crawling!

When we're holding him, he likes to throw himself back and forth and head-bang. There's that rock star coming out in him again! haha...He does this in his high chair as well.

What is it with bouncing and motion, lights, paper, gadgets and any sort of electronics? Santino goes nuts for them. It's very reminiscent of how Maximus was as a baby. Perhaps all babies are that way? I don't know. But, one thing for sure...Santino has developed a curiosity about everything. He wants to hold and taste anything that comes within close proximity.

Sometimes he reminds me of a puppy. He's really into giving you wet, slobbery kisses. teehee! It's pretty cute.

Last week it sounded like he said Mama a couple of times. I think it was just a fluke, but Maximus and I looked at each other in amazement when we heard it.

If he's fussy and not eating, I can sing to him and he'll calm down and eat his food. Singing also helps when he's crying or not sleeping. Maximus and I sing this made up song to him and he'll stop. It goes like this: "Baby, don't cry...Baby don't cry...Baby, don't cry."

Santino still continues to growl when he's happy.

Snow Days

A couple weeks ago we got SNOW!

It was a big deal, because it was the first time that Maximus got to play in the snow. Unfortunately Rob was busy with work and had to travel a couple days after the storm started, so he didn't get a chance to play"in the snow with us.

For many of you, this is just a light dusting, but for where we live, it's considered a LOT!

Santino enjoyed the winter wonderland as well.

 

 Even though I didn't venture outside with him...

 

I still had fun dressing him in winter clothes.

 

Maximus had a ball!

 

And since he didn't have any gloves or mittens of his own, I made him wear mine...

 

...sometimes. haha

28 Weeks

What a difference a week makes. Santino is now sitting up on his own. You can tell that he's enjoying this newfound freedom, even though he takes a tumble every now and then.

In addition to spinning around on his tummy, he's been scooting backwards and making a couple leaps forward. He wants to crawl! Oh BOY! This mama is really gonna be on the move when that happens.

The past couple of days Santino has been extra fussy, not wanting to eat at times. Besides being a little finicky when it comes to food, it might have something to do with him teething. He's also had a runny nose for the past couple of weeks. I think he may have caught a little cold, but nothing serious.

It seems like every time I turn around he's outgrowing clothes. Last week I was sorting through his drawer, I came across some overalls that were given to Maximus when he was a baby. Sometimes I feel like I have a real life doll to dress up. haha...Thanks for being a good sport, Santino!

A New Friend?

(BIG sigh) "I'm SO bored! I wish I had someone to play with right now. Hmmmm...I wonder when Maximus will wake up from his nap?"

(Santino hears a flutter of feathers)
"What was that noise?"

"Excuse me...but I couldn't help but overhear that you are bored."

"Bored isn't the word! My brother is taking a nap so I have nobody to play with."

"Well, I could keep you company until he wakes up. My name is Kooky Chicken...Maximus and I go waaaaay back."

"Ohhhhh...so YOU'RE the famous Kooky Chicken? I've heard A LOT about you!"

"Hey Kooky...come over here for a minute!"

"Uhhhhh...Santino?! What are you doing?"

"I'm hungry Kooky! You said you're a chicken, right?"

"WHAT?!?!"

27 Weeks

Don't you love how babies can contort their bodies? They're like Gumby. A couple weeks ago Santino was even putting his toes in his mouth.
 
Here's the stats from his 6 month well check
Weight: 15 pounds 11 ounces (17th percentile)
Height: 26 ½"  long (45th percentile)
Head Circumference: 17.13" (56th percentile)

He's not a huge baby, but to think that he's grown 7 ½" in length since birth seems like a lot, huh?

We discovered a day or two after he turned 6 months that he has a tooth coming in! It's the bottom left front tooth. When I'm feeding him baby food, lately he likes to bite down on the spoon. He's been using teething rings, which seem to help as well.

Not much new in the food department, but he did eat some chicken with sweet potatoes for the first time last week.

Today he sat up on his own a couple of times for about a minute before I needed to catch him from falling over. Another thing that he did today, was he kept grabbing my chin and turning it toward his face. I of course took the opportunity to give him kisses. Lucky for me, this boy loves to be kissed. He kept doing it over and over again. Eventually however he started grabbing my throat and pinching it. Ouch! haha...this boy has sharp fingernails too. Rob is the designated fingernail clipper expert for the boys. It seems like he's always trimming Santino's nails!

We had SNOW folks! Last Thursday it started. The ice came on Saturday and it just began melting yesterday. I was giddy like a little kid. We don't get much snow around here so it was kind of a big deal. Where we live I'm guessing we had about 6-8 inches. Santino liked watching the snow through the window. I didn't take him out in it, but I took some photos of him dressed in some winter garb. Maximus on the other hand went outside and we had fun together. I'll try and post some photos soon.

Maximus Turns 3 Today!

Dear Maximus,

Our world was forever changed when you came into our lives 3 years ago today. We cannot imagine a day without you! You've brought so much joy and love to those around you.

 

• You're a kind hearted, fun, and silly boy.
• You love your "mackies" (blankies), especially your froggy one.
• Music is your passion - even at this young age, we can see that it is woven into the fiber of your being.
• We love watching you sing along to songs, dance and play the drums.
• You are intelligent, thoughtful & conscientious.
• Santino is blessed to have an amazing big brother.
• You love playing with cars, trucks, trains, cardboard boxes, as well as other random items around the house that you use to build or create things.
• You're always eager to help us around the house & with Santino.
• We're glad that you enjoy drawing, coloring, painting & play dough! Mama does too!
• Most evenings and weekends you can be found having fun wrestling with Papa (and Santino) or playing with a ball.
• Maximus, you have a style all your own and enjoy wearing your hats. (oftentimes indoors)
• At the end of a prayer, you like ending it with a big "AMEN," while your arms reach up overhead, like you're cheering.
• You also share a birthday with your Grandpa BoBo (Rob's Dad). That's so cool that you guys can celebrate together. Happy Birthday, Bernie! Hope you had a wonderful day!
