Christmas Cactus

I hope you all had a great Thanksgiving and are having a good start to a new week.

I love it when our Christmas Cactus starts blooming. Every year, I can't help myself...I have this compulsion to take pictures of it...surprise, surprise...(ha ha)...

So, I thought I'd share a few snaps with you.

I couldn't resist taking a picture of Tommy the Turtle. I don't know...does he look like a Tommy? It just seemed to fit.

Have a happy day!

Not Alone

Do you ever feel like this leaf? Hanging out there…maybe alone and wondering what to do next? Don’t give up hope. Help is on the way…

I pray that God, the source of hope, will fill you completely with joy and peace because you trust in him. Then you will overflow with confident hope through the power of the Holy Spirit. Romans 15:13 (NLT)

For the Love of Birds

Our back porch seems to be a wildlife refuge for finches, juncos, robins, blue jays and hummingbirds. I'm not complaining...I love the birds, but they are VERY messy. The seed and pooh gets all over my plants and flowers...And there is ALWAYS seed on the ground.

If I keep up with the mess and sweep the porch often, it's not so bad; but when I let it pile up, it becomes one icky disgusting chore. Isn't that true about life? I need to remember to clean up the little messes, before they become too big...

I hope you have a mess-free weekend!

Discover Beauty

Do you have any exciting plans for the weekend?
Well, they don't have to be exciting...

But, I hope that whatever you do, you'll take some time to stop and

enjoy the BEAUTY around you!

Bless your enemies; no cursing under your breath.
Laugh with your happy friends when they're happy;
share tears when they're down.
Get along with each other;
don't be stuck-up.
Make friends with nobodies;
don't be the great somebody.
Don't hit back; discover beauty in everyone.
If you've got it in you, get along with everybody.
Don't insist on getting even; that's not for you to do.
"I'll do the judging," says God. "I'll take care of it."
Romans 12:14-19 (The Message)

Happy day!

Monday

The sunrise was absolutely stunning today!!! I took some 'snaps' (I've been using this word lately...ha ha) from our back porch, some with the flash and some without. The colors have not been altered. Have a happy Monday...if you are having those Monday blues, I hope your spirit is lifted today!

"No chance at all," Jesus said, "if you think you can pull it off by yourself.
Every chance in the world if you trust God to do it."
Luke 18:27 (The Message)

Have a blessed week!

Curtain Rod & Kitchen Rugs

Last year I made some curtains for our kitchen. Just a couple straight panels, some black bias tape stringed through a couple buttons to pull the fabric back. I had an old brass curtain rod and saw no need to buy a new one. So, I painted it black and hung it, only to realize that it was sagging pretty bad in the middle. I "MacGyvered" it with a small piece of wood and some duct tape to support the rod. ha ha...I am one of those that likes to use what they have...and what better way to transform/update something with a bit of paint and duct tape.

Well, I finally broke down a few weeks ago and bought a new black rod, for $4.99. Whoa...I know, big spender!!! Gotta love Ross!

Also, I was in need of some new kitchen rugs. They had been washed and dried (probably not a good thing to dry with the backing being made of a rubber type material.) The edges of the binding were tattered and worn. It was beyond the "shabby chic" look. So, when Rob said, "We need to get new kitchen rugs," I didn't argue! Bed Bath & Beyond is where I ended up finding them. With coupons, I saved $10 off the total...can't beat that!

There's something about this time of year that makes me want to decorate, organize and clean. And, I love shopping and finding great deals! I hope you are having a great weekend.

The Tapestry hanging next to the curtain is something my husband bought years ago when he was in China. I was excited to find that these worked well by the curtains...I am going for an Asian sort of theme.

Clouds

Sometimes I feel like a nut...sometimes I don't...ha ha...really, most of the time, I feel like a kid. I enjoy the simple things in life, like clouds. There are some of you out there that can relate to me (thank goodness!)

Here are some snaps I wanted to share with you from this last weekend.

Driving down the freeway...well, Rob's driving...I'm in the passenger seat.

Color and Texture

This picture above begins the series of pics when LaLa and I went for a little drive...

Looks like an old man's face...mouth open wide...talking...Boy, he looks a little angry!

I see a face...do you? Tilt your head to your left. Do you see the eyes, nose and mouth?

Looks like a road in the sky...

I could definitely live behind those gates.

Oh so soft and fluffy...

Doesn't the tree on the right look like some sort of animal, from a side profile? Kind of cartoonish in nature...

Sunset over Vancouver Lake in Washington State

This last picture I had to include. It was taken several years ago at my parents house. We were outside playing basketball. We looked up in the sky and saw this writing from a plane! What a cool reminder!

Happy Day!
