ER or Jewelry Store?

We'd all choose going to a Jewelry Store over the Emergency Room. It's kind of a no-brainer, huh?

Well, that's what I did yesterday. After a lot of (prodding) encouragement from Rob, I called the Dr. to find out what to do about my wedding ring. It was not coming off my finger, not that I wanted to take it off; but being pregnant, my fingers have swollen. Or maybe they've just gotten fatter! ha ha...I could still spin my ring around my finger where it sat, but other than that, it wasn't going anywhere! I wasn't too concerned, but finally gave in and made the call. The nurse said that they don't remove rings there. I would have to go to either the Emergency Room or a Jewelry Store. So, I called Fred Meyer Jewelers and they said to come on in - they remove rings for free!

I have to say, it was kind of sad to see my ring cut in two! And, believe me...I tried about every trick in the book: soap & water, lotion, olive oil, window cleaner, tape around the finger, dental floss, ice and more ice!

I gave it one last college try yesterday, icing my finger. It was a "No go"...The tip of it is still numb today. I hope I don't have frostbite. haha...

Okay...lesson learned. I'm just thankful that they were able to get it off my finger.

Other than that, I'm doing well. I am now 16 weeks pregnant. I go in for another appointment & ultrasound mid September. Things are looking good!

Happy Birthday, Mom!

Yesterday was my Mom's 74th Birthday. Happy Birthday, Mom!

I got to spend most of the day with my parents.
We went to lunch at one of my favorite little places, called South Store Café, which is located out in the country.
Check it out here.

It's an adorable house, built over 100 years ago - "Opened around 1903 as a combination general store and meeting hall for the local chapter of the Independent Order of the Oddfellows." It has a bit of a rickety feeling to the place. It can be blamed on the Columbus Day Storm back in October of 1962. Winds of 100+ mph caused the house to never stand quite plum again. I think it just adds to the charm!

After lunch we went across the street to Smith Berry Barn. I just realized that I have been calling it 'Farm' instead of 'Barn' for some time now. Ha!

Anyway, it's family owned. They originally started out as a u-pick raspberry farm. They have expanded to a farm & garden market, with fresh berries & produce, along with an adorable gift shop. Oh, not to mention - milkshakes, ice cream, coffee & other gourmet items.

Overall it was a lovely day!
I hope you have many, many more Birthdays Mom!

Love you!

Ice Cube

No - Kooky isn't trying to become cryogenically frozen.
He's just trying to get some relief from the HOT sun.

Dog Days of Summer

I noticed this dog yesterday, as I was coming and going out of a store.
He looks so sad to me. I think he needs a caption.

Any ideas?

Check it Out...

I thought it would be a fun idea to start a new blog, in addition to the other one I have. This one will focus on studying passages in the book of Proverbs. Years ago, a Pastor suggested in a sermon that we should read a chapter a day from this book. It works out great, because there are 31 chapters in the book of Proverbs, so an easy way to read it is take today's date and read that chapter. For instance, today is the 11th, so I read Proverbs 11. Easy enough, huh?

Interesting Walk

I went for a nice morning walk at the pond today. This is the sign that was taped to a lamp post.

At the end of my walk I noticed that the sign was gone. Hmmm...maybe Fluffy was found?

I also noticed a man fishing in this man made pond. When I asked him what he was catching, he responded, "Fish." LOL...

It's going to be an interesting day...I can tell already.

My dear, dear friends! I love you so much. I do want the very best for you. You make me feel such joy, fill me with such pride. Don't waver. Stay on track, steady in God.

The Time I Almost Threw My Husband Out the Window

Well it's not entirely true. I never intended to throw Rob out the window. I'll blame it on our bedroom mattress...

It was the first year of being married. We lived in a townhouse style apartment, with our bedroom being on the 2nd floor. Our King size bed was...well, it was KING size...equating to - LARGE. Back in the day, you had to flip most mattresses from time to time, so they would wear more evenly.

That's when the mishap, or almost mishap occurred. Rob was on one side of the bed, while I was on the other. There were handles on the sides to grab hold of, which eventually ripped out. Through the warranty, we got a new replacement bed...but that's besides the point.

So, back to the story...The goal was to get the mattress tilted up on one side and then shimmy it and flip it over completely. I was having some difficulty with getting control of it. Rob was trying to guide me from the other side, while the mattress was being twisted & contoured. We got it to a point where it was standing on its side in the middle of the bed. That was good, but from a profile view, it would have looked like the pipeline of Hawaii's surfing coast = not so good! Trouble was brewing...I could feel it. I know Rob was saying something like, "hold it, don't let it go yet"...when all of a sudden, I lost control of my side. The mattress acted like a catapult. The only problem, was that Rob was the projectile in this case. Next thing I knew, he was up against the window...looking quite dazed...similar to the look that Wile E. Coyote gets in those cartoons.

Of course, I think my first reaction was to laugh. But then I realized what could have happened. Thank goodness that Rob landed in the middle of the window, right on the jamb. That gave him a bit of reinforcement to protect him from flying through the glass.

Nowadays, we have a no-flip mattress. I'm not even sure they make the old kind anymore. Perhaps the mattress companies had enough complaints of the same thing happening to other people. I wonder if anyone sued them.

I'm so thankful that nobody got hurt...but looking back it's still kind of funny.

Happy day!

Feeling Short

Do you ever feel out of place?

...we will not compare ourselves with each other as if one of us were better and another worse. We have far more interesting things to do with our lives. Each of us is an original.

Happy Birthday, Rob!

I thought I'd share something that Rob used to wear as a little boy...
These were his cowboy boots!
He loved them so much that he wore them to the bone.
Cute, huh? I'm so glad his Mom, LaLa, saved these.

Rob,
I hope you have a very Happy Birthday. I'm so thankful that God brought us together way back when!

Looking forward to the day when we can buy our little one some cowboy boots!

I love you very, very much!
