Dr. Visit - Caption Needed

Maximus had his 18 month appointment at the Doctor last week. Actually, It was almost 18 ½ months, since we didn't go in right on his birthday.

The expression on his face here cracks me up!! I had fun posting it to facebook and hearing all sorts of funny captions. So, let's have some fun with this HERE - What would your caption for this photo be?

M's stats along with percentiles:
22 ½ pounds = 11%
31 ½" tall = 24% (this % doubled since his 1 year visit)
head measured 49 cm = 81%

What does this say? Well, he's still a little guy...fine by me...but he has a big head! haha...that's my two cents. Let's hope it's ALL brains in there. I do think he's pretty smart though. But then again, I'm his Mama...

Speaking of Mama...(Just a quick note)...Maximus started saying, "mommy" to me in the store yesterday. It was the cutest thing, especially since we always refer to me as Mama. So, I'm guessing he heard it somewhere?

Happy day!

Simple Fun!

I picked up some paper & markers at the store today and while Maximus was napping, I rolled out a few feet of paper and taped it to the kitchen floor.

Most of M's experience with drawing and such comes from the crayons that have accompanied a children's menu when we go out to eat.

Yesterday he had fun doodling in church, so I thought he might enjoy trying it on a larger scale.

I get so much joy watching this guy experience new things.

It's okay to get messy, Maximus. They're washable markers. haha...
The good thing is he actually enjoys washing his hands in the kitchen sink.

At the end of the day, here's what he drew. And as with anything, M enjoyed inspecting and playing with the markers just as much or more than drawing with them.

Don't you think we should all dig out some markers or crayons this week and enjoy this simple entertainment?

I am linking up with Renae over at Simple Sequins & Mary at Merry Dot Dandy for their E.A.S.Y. Tuesday Blog hop. Each Tuesday they write a post that is:

Celebrating (Part II)

Last weekend was a busy one. Sunday was my Mom's birthday. My entire family got together that day at my parent's house. It was a short visit, but it was great to see everyone.

We even managed to get a family photo with my parents. I wish we would have had time to get my 3 brothers and their families together in one shot. Maybe next time...

Maximus was a real trooper. The day before he only napped for about 20 minutes in the car on the way to Rob's parents. So he was due for some sleep!

Happy Birthday, Grandma!

I hope everyone has a great weekend!

Celebrating

Last Saturday we went over to Rob's parents' house to celebrate his birthday, from earlier this month.

Grandpa and Maximus hung out for a bit...

Panda wanted to make sure she was in on part of the action.

After lunch, Rob's Mom and I went outside and Maximus got comfy in the hammock.

"Grandma...Why must I try and take a nap?"

"Because you're sleepy, Maximus."

Grandma LaLa pushed him in the hammock and sung/hummed to him for quite some time. He closed his eyes for about a minute, and was on the verge of crashing hard, but he fought it!

Later we went inside. Grandma was making Maximus giggle...

Then it was time for Papa to open up his birthday gift from his parents.

Maximus pretty much stepped in and took over for Papa.

He knew exactly what to do...

Rip off the tape...

Let's see what's inside...

What do we have here???

 PERFECT - a GPS!!!

Before we left, M had to check out the chimes...multiple times.

And give the doggie a kiss...

Happy day!

Happy Birthday Mom!!!

Today is my Mom's birthday.

She turns 76 years old. Doesn't she look GREAT? I couldn't ask for a better Mother. She is so much fun - loves Jesus her family and has a tendency to hug strangers. Yes, she's THAT friendly. Okay, not that she just goes up to completely random people and gives them a hug. Basically to sum it up, she has a heart of gold, is goofy, extremely active and loves life!

And Mom, you don't have to leave me a comment. I pretty much know what you will say...lots of mush and gush. heehee...

Mr. Maximus wanted to send you some love as well...

Happy Birthday Grandma!
xoxo
(maah)

Hope you have a wonderful day.
Love to you, from the three of us!

The Red Balloon

Yesterday after swimming, Maximus and I did some shopping. We went to an outdoor mall, because I needed to return some makeup. It didn't take long for M to discover that some children were walking around with a "be lou" (balloon).

I noticed a sign; we could get a complimentary balloon at guest services. Whoo hoo! Maximus was excited! They even tied a small bottle of bubbles to the end of the string to keep it from blowing away. Brilliant, because Maximus likes to hold the balloon. No tying it around his wrist. Nope! None of that.

His attention was quickly diverted to a lady that was sweeping the pavement.

She had a "boo" (broom) and dustpan.

Complete and utter fascination...

"This balloon is nice and all...

but, they should be giving away free brooms at this place."

"Don't they know that kids love brooms?!"

"Oh well...I guess next time, I'll have Mama mention it to them at guest services."

Beautiful flowers

Maximus stopped and took a whiff...

"Time to go."

"Oh boy. They're remodeling this store. I bet they have brooms in THERE!"

I have linked up with Nancy's "Photo Show & Tell Link Party" over at Small Things With Love. Check it out here.

Summertime

About a week and a half ago, Maximus met up with his cousins Isaiah & Isaac at my parent's house. Grandpa & Grandma bought a little wading pool for them to play in and cool off.

Maximus & Isaiah, testing the water...

Isaiah's big brother Isaac, helped entertain the little ones and blew bubbles.

Splish

Splash

Oh...

what...

Fun!

Frisbees make great water toys.

Three happy kids!

Maximus was checking out the slip 'n slide...Too bad I didn't get photos of Isaac going down...he was having a ball.

Later Maximus & Isaiah got the munchies, so they had some snacks.

Can you say adorable? It looks like Isaiah was posing with those arms in his overalls.

These guys don't see each other that often...

So it's really fun to watch them when they're together.

So sweet!

Grandma was feeding them raisins. Oops...looks like a few fell to the ground.

Grandpa gave Maximus a drink of water, but it appears that M pulled away...haha...

Oh, the fun days of summer! What have you been up to? How do you beat the heat on those scorching hot days?

Happy day!
