The Clock is Ticking

Maximus was grabbing pictures of himself today and was "kissing the baby." Then he'd grab a photo and take it over to his water bottle and proceed to give the baby "ah dink ah wah-wah" (drink of water). I don't think he's grasped the concept that these are photos of him. ha!

 

Silly boy...I know he's going to be such a helpful brother when Santino arrives. My only worry is that he might try to be "too helpful," so we'll just have to keep a close eye on him.

 

I'm now 28 weeks and 2 days. Santino will be here in less than 11 weeks since my Dr. wants to induce me by August 12th.

 

I made a rag quilt for Santino recently, like I did for Maximus. And this last weekend we started getting things organized and moved around. Rob's parent's bought us a bassinet, so Rob put that together, with Maximus right by his side assisting with the screw driver and running away with parts to Santino's bed.

 

Maximus likes discussing his "baby braw-da" (baby brother) and says "Hat-tat-toe" or "Tino" when we're talking about Santino. The last couple of days he's been saying, "Baby come out ah Mama."

Today I think I'll pay tribute to the famous French Artist, Claude Monet.

Oh, how I love to paint!

Hey Maximus...What are you doing?

Well Kooky, I'm kind of in the middle of creating another masterpiece. Give me a second.

Are you a painter Maximus? I've never met a famous artist before. Can you teach me how to paint?

Uhhh...Maximus? What are you doing with that paintbrush?

You want to be part of the creative process, right? I'm giving you a hands on experience Kooky.

What did you say Kooky?

I said I wanted to learn how to paint. Why are you shaking me upside down?

Perhaps I'd be better off just letting you work Maximus. I'll sit this one out.

I think that's a brilliant idea! Why don't you stand over here and watch me, Kooky.

Okay...where was I now?

Obviously, Kooky has no clue that an artist needs to focus his full attention solely to the canvas. I tell you, that chicken can be a bit distracting.

Maximus, do you need help opening that bottle of paint?

No thanks, Kooky. I've got it under control.

Are you sure, Maximus?

Yes...I am quite capable, Kooky!

What are you going to do with that color, Maximus?

Kooky, could you please just watch and not do any talking for a bit?

What am I going to do with this chicken? He's starting to get on my nerves!

Kooky, I've got an idea...

Why don't you come over here and take a little break while I paint.

I wonder how long it will be until he comes back to bother me...

MAXIMUS!!! HELP! COME QUICK!

What were you doing on the floor, Kooky?

Maximus, you know I'm afraid of heights. I got so scared sitting on the windowsill that I must have fallen off!

Okay, Kooky. Let's try this again. Just try to stay out of my way until I'm finished. Can you do that?

I think you're almost out of that color, Maximus.

STOP IT NOW KOOKY! I'VE HAD ENOUGH!!!

Somebody better intervene soon before I go completely bonkers!

Monsieur Maximus, PLEASE FORGIVE ME! I'm sorry for getting in your way...Have mercy on me.

That chicken is driving me mad!

Okay...calm down...Take a DEEP Breath...

From this angle Maximus, your painting looks like chicken scratches.

Chicken scratches???

This Week

Happy belated Mother's Day to all of you beautiful women out there. We got to spend the evening with my parents last Friday and then with Rob's family on Sunday. I feel so blessed to have my Mom & Mother-in-law in my life!

 

It goes without saying that I love being a Mom to this little guy.

 

Monday I received sad news that my Uncle (my mom's brother) passed away unexpectedly. He was such an amazing man who loved Jesus with all of his heart! I am so thankful that I'll get to see him again someday.

 

Life is precious!

My Boys

We had such a fun weekend...

 

 

Saturday we went on our first picnic together...

After lunch Maximus got to run around on the playground.

He repeatedly slid down the slide by himself, which he gained confidence to do (on his own) the day before.

He had a blast!

 

Isn't this photo the sweetest?!

 

Sunday after church we went out to lunch at Burgerville. Maximus ate about 3/4 of his cheeseburger!

 

Before we ever had Maximus, people would ask me if I had any kids. My usual response was, "just my husband." haha...I am so thankful for these two "boys" and we're all looking forward to another one in a few months!
