Curtain Rod & Kitchen Rugs

Last year I made some curtains for our kitchen. Just a couple straight panels, some black bias tape stringed through a couple buttons to pull the fabric back. I had an old brass curtain rod and saw no need to buy a new one. So, I painted it black and hung it, only to realize that it was sagging pretty bad in the middle. I "MacGyvered" it with a small piece of wood and some duct tape to support the rod. ha ha...I am one of those that likes to use what they have...and what better way to transform/update something with a bit of paint and duct tape.

Well, I finally broke down a few weeks ago and bought a new black rod, for $4.99. Whoa...I know, big spender!!! Gotta love Ross!

Also, I was in need of some new kitchen rugs. They had been washed and dried (probably not a good thing to dry with the backing being made of a rubber type material.) The edges of the binding were tattered and worn. It was beyond the "shabby chic" look. So, when Rob said, "We need to get new kitchen rugs," I didn't argue! Bed Bath & Beyond is where I ended up finding them. With coupons, I saved $10 off the total...can't beat that!

There's something about this time of year that makes me want to decorate, organize and clean. And, I love shopping and finding great deals! I hope you are having a great weekend.

New Curtain Rod

New Rug(s)

The Tapestry hanging next to the curtain is something my husband bought years ago when he was in China. I was excited to find that these worked well by the curtains...I am going for an Asian sort of theme.

Happy Decorating!!!

Love that rug!

I'm with you...even though we moved in the spring, and I cleaned out a lot, I am still in the mood to clean out and organize.

Great job with the curtains. I'm impressed.

Great new rug. The curtains look good to. I LOVE the tapestries from China - I have a fondness for Orient deco. I have two very old wood block prints I bought at the antique shop I worked at in college. Their of birds on branches.

P.S. I'm glad you like the abstracts. I had so much fun doing them. They are oil and food color in water. You photograph them up close.

Hope you had a great weekend!

I love your decorating flair, Heidi. The cushions that you reupholstered for our glider are really well done. Someday, you may have to put out your shingle for helping others decorate their homes. I am proud of you.You may have to post that here, too. :)

(((raising hand wildly in the air)))

I want to be first on the list for help in decorating!
My dining room chair cushions have seen better days. (probably cuz they are from the 1940's). And they are in serious need of new fabric. I'm just terrified!!! of doing it though. You should show me how.
